Welcome to the Cricket Section
Pwllheli Cricket Club was first formed in the Town in 1870, the first team game, some 9 years before football was first played here. After playing for many years at the 'Rec' in the Town, Parc Bodegroes has been our home since 1976. Together with the rugby and hockey sections Bodegroes forms the thriving Pwllheli Sports Club on the outskirts of the village of Efailnewydd. In glorious settings boasting the best playing surface in the area why not come and play cricket.
The Cricket Club runs two senior sides playing in the Premier Division and Division 5 of the North Wales Cricket League, as well as several junior sides ranging from under 9s upwards. The seniors play on Saturdays with evening Junior matches played on a home and away basis throughout the season. The Club boasts several qualified coaches whose aim is to improve the standard of cricket allowing youngsters to enjoy playing, improve their skills and eventually play for the senior sides. Training sessions take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm onwards with Thursdays being allocated to Juniors.
Most of the historical material comes from local newspapers and the scorebooks, which apart for the one for 1980 have been kept. The details therefore are more or less complete from 1954 onwards. Take a moment to have a look at the match photos. Many of the games played from 2006 onwards can be seen in the Photos section.
If you have any old material about Pwllheli Cricket Club please get in touch so that it can be included on the site. You can get in touch through the Contact section. Also we have a guestbook where your feedback would be very much appreciated. The links for these can be seen at the top of this page.
